Forces Goal Setting Tool

It is now time to set a goal relating to your USP or values.

Businesses wanting to make changes to achieve a goal can choose to use a tool called Lewin's Force Field Analysis, which considers the forces pushing towards the goal and the forces pushing back. In a business, a force could be financial, related to staff skills, or a large competitor which is taking customers away.

  1. Use this tool to identify the forces that can push you towards achieving your goal, such as support from other people, or a change in mindset
  2. Identify the forces pushing you back to your status quo, such as fear of change or failure, or lack of opportunity.
  3. Decide how strong each force is, by giving it a score out of 5.
  4. Discuss with your peers and/or teacher how you could MINIMISE the forces pushing you back and MAXIMISE the forces pushing you forwards. Could one overcome the other?
  5. Use your mouse to hover over the images for the questions you need to consider.
